Senior Infants had a fantastic day out at Blackwater Open Farm recently. They got to feed and pet lots of farm animals, enjoy a sand park, bouncy castle, go-karts, ball zone and even play some soccer. Great fun was had by all.
Over the past few weeks, we have been learning many different yoga poses. We have pretended to be lots of different animals such as a mouse, cat, lion, dog, turtle and crocodile. These animals have helped us to do the Downward Dog, Upward Facing Dog, Warrior Pose and lots more. It can be tricky to balance on one leg sometimes but we have great fun trying. Thank you Janette for teaching us such fun exercises. We can’t wait for next week already.
Senior Infants are learning all about ‘Space’. We have found an easy way of remembering the eight planets and and we have learned lots of interesting facts like Jupiter is the largest planet and it has 62 moons. We made lots of spaceships and rockets with our blocks – some of them were as tall as our teacher!! We made funny aliens with straws and pretended to be Baby Bear in ‘Whatever Next’ and travelled to the moon to have a picnic there.
Two local Gardaí from Gorey came to visit both Senior Infant classes and told us a lot about the work that they do. We were very lucky and got the chance to try on the Garda vest, their Garda hat and real handcuffs!!! We also got to sit in the Garda car and turn on the sirens and flashing lights. It was really cool. We also had lots of fun dressing up as a Garda and Bangarda ourselves during our playtime.
Our class had great fun re-telling and acting out the story of The Three Little Pigs. We made the big bad wolf and the three little pigs from clay. We constructed their houses using blocks and had great fun blowing them down afterwards. We also made houses with straw, wood and paper bricks. Then we listened to the story of ‘The Somewhat Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs’.
