The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D., today launched the Final report on the Síolta Quality Assurance Programme. This programme is aimed at assisting those who care for children aged 0 to 6 to meet the quality standards of Síolta, which is the National Framework for Quality in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) settings. This would include child-minders who care for children in their homes, crèches, Montessori’s, and infant classes in primary schools.
Ms Frances Fitzgerald T.D., Minister for Children and Youth Affairs has today (6th November 2013) welcomed the publication of the National Educational Welfare Board’s (NEWB) Analysis of School Attendance Data 2010/11 which shows continued improvement in student attendance from 2009/10 and previous years.

Parent Teacher Association After-School Activity Term 1 2012-2013 Gymnastics and Zumba Fitness
Shelley Askins will be doing a Gymnastics and Zumba fitness class for kids after school. This activity promises to be a fun and energetic workout for kids.
Junior and Senior Infants: 1.30- 2.30pm on Fridays, for 8 weeks (start date to be confirmed). Cost is €40 – 1 child, €70 – for 2 siblings, €110 – for 3 siblings. 1st class to 6th class: 2.30-3.30pm on Fridays, for 8 weeks (start date to be confirmed). Cost is €40 – 1 child, €70 – for 2 siblings, €110 – for 3 siblings. Enrolment will be on Thursday 27th September at 1.15pm for infant classes and 2.15pm for 1st -6th classes. Enrolment will be in the PTA kitchen. First-come-first-served basis.
If you aren’t able to make enrolment please leave the money in an envelope in the school office with the following details: name of child, parent’s name and contact details, child’s class, and child’s teacher name.
Please note that children who require significant additional help or supervision during this after-school activity would need to be accompanied and supported by their parent (or other adult family member.)

ELECTION OF PARENT NOMINEES TO THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
The current term of the school’s Board of Management will expire on 30/11/2011 and a new Board will take up office on 01/12/2011. Two parents of children enrolled in the school (one being a mother and the other a father) must be elected by the general body of parents of children enrolled in the school.
A meeting will be held at the school at 8pm on Wednesday 23rd November 2011.

Parent-Teacher Association Annual General Meeting
This meeting will also take place on Wednesday 23rd November 2011. A report on the work of the Association over the past year will be presented.
A number of volunteers are needed to join the Organising Committee for 2011-2012, and parents are asked to consider putting themselves forward during this meeting. See next week’s school newsletter for additional information.
