Friday February 4th: Credit Union Table Quiz for schools. We are entering two teams in this competition. Meet in the Ashdown Park Hotel at 6.45pm. Quiz begins at 7pm sharp.
Parents of 6th class: find out the closing dates for enrolling in Gorey Community School and Gorey Community College. Info packs re: Gorey Community School were distributed last week. A representative from Gorey Community College will visit the children tomorrow (Friday.) Phone Gorey Community School or County Wexford Vocational Education Committee for more information.
Friday February 11th: The children on the School Council invite you to attend our School Disco.
Infants & 1st class: 6pm-8pm; older classes 7pm-9pm. (Families with siblings: come at the time that will work best for you, but get older children to sit out for the younger hour and vice versa.)
Entry: €2 per child; preschoolers free; maximum family charge €5. Also, tuck shop open on the night. We need many parents to stay with the children and help with the supervision. Please note that this event is for current Gorey Educate Together families only – we wouldn’t have room for cousins, neighbours, etc.
Evening Classes for Parents and Guardians: ‘helping your child with Irish/Maths.’
Beginner (or refresher) Irish language class (primary school themes) with Grace Sexton, 7-8pm beginning Tuesday March 8th. €20 for 4 Tuesdays. Emphasis: the spoken language.
Primary School Maths (focusing on parts of the 5th-6th class maths curriculum) with Andrew Murray, 7-8pm beginning Tuesday March 8th. €20 for 4 Tuesdays. Brush up on some rusty maths skills: fractions, percentages, decimals, etc. Help children with the transition from 3rd/4th class maths to 5th/6th class maths.
Bookings (first-come-first-served) through the school office. Please place full payment in an envelope marked with your name, contact number, amount and course booked. Minimum number of participants for each course: 8.
St. Patrick’s Day parade. Our 2009 entry: ‘Flags of the World’ (pupil idea.) 2010: ‘Samba beat’ (staff idea.) 2011: it’s back to the parents! We need your ideas and/or help. All suggestions (and associated help!) are very welcome.

PS, Absences are classified as ‘unexplained’ unless we receive written notes. (Phoning the school doesn’t count.)
Notes (or emails) should be submitted as soon as the child returns to school.
Overnight trip to EcoAdventure Ireland, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow for 5th and 6th classes: PS, a further €50 instalment per child is due by the end of this month.
Pedestrians: Safety First! Please use the footpaths. Use the pedestrian crossings to cross the road, only when it is safe to do so.
Drivers: Watch out for pedestrians using the crossings (the school buses may obscure your view.)
Parking: Please don’t block other cars (or empty parking spaces.) Stay with your vehicle in ‘Set Down Only’ areas.
