Summer Fair
at Gorey Educate Together NS
this Sunday 12th June, 2pm-5pm
Craft stalls, bric-a-brac, raffle,
children’s games, face painting & music.
Spread the word!
Wanted:
· Donations of prizes for children’s activities/raffle (very small toys or gifts)
· Bric-a-brac
· Crafts (adult-made or child-made)
· Cakes & buns
· Volunteers to help with stalls and the coffee dock
We need to know — as soon as possible —how many volunteers can commit to helping on the day. (Otherwise, the event might need to be scaled back.) Please contact the school office.
School Accounts: An inspection copy of the certified school accounts (2009-2010) is now posted on the noticeboard by the Junior Infant classrooms.
Props for Drama: Please donate any clean/unused hats, colourful socks or dress-up costumes for use by the children in drama lessons. Also: role-play toys such as a doctor’s stethoscope or builder’s measuring tape. Items can be left in the school office or with Jacinta (who teaches Junior Infants.)
Fun with Irish summer camp: Gorey Gaelscoil, 087 206 8964. (Flyers on noticeboard.)
English & Spanish summer camp: Arklow. Healthy lunch included. Contact Liz Kavanagh: 087 931 4914.
‘The Red Door’ – a book about our work with the artist Karen Nickell. To purchase copies (direct from the publisher) please visit the link on the school website. The book will be available for purchase until the end of June.
Booklists for the new school year were distributed at the end of May: As usual, all books will be supplied in class. Please pay the full amount or €60 deposit by the end of June. A receipt is issued for all book payments — check your child’s bag. School reopens Wednesday 31st August. Please pay the balance on your account by Friday, 2nd September.
This year, your child’s books and supplies can only be passed on to their classteacher when the booklist has been paid for in full. Unfortunately, the school is not in a position to make any exceptions to the above.
Our booklist totals are down again this year, (by as much as €35 for some classes.) Please help us to keep these totals as low as possible: look after rental books very carefully and always return rental & library books to the school. (Most rental books are in use in our older classes. Our younger classes use more workbooks.)
Eligible families may wish to apply for the ‘Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance’: details available at Social Welfare, HSE and Citizens Information offices.
Keep reading during the summer holidays!
Try ‘Circus Stars’ – this summer’s reading challenge in all County Wexford libraries.
Celebrate the official opening of Gorey’s new library this Thurs. 9th June at 3pm.
