Seachtain na Gaeilge (SnaG:) (Irish language week) There are many SnaG events and activities for the children to look forward: Radió SnaG will broadcast throughout the school at 10.20am daily, SnaG assemblies, Léamh le Chéile and Ceolchoirm Beag. Also, work for ‘ticéidí glasa’ (green tickets) by using the Irish language as much as possible. We’d be delighted to hear from some set-dancing or music-playing parents – please speak with Grace (who teaches 2nd class) or leave a message with Bernie in the office.
Another highlight for the children… ‘Damhsathon,’ Wednesday March 9th. Each class will be allocated a time slot and they need to ‘keep dancing.’ Suggested donation: €2 per child, in aid of Courtown Lifeboat Station.
Also: for pupils and parents… Trath na gCeist Boird (table quiz,) Tuesday March 15th, 7pm. All are welcome. Mixed teams of 4 or 5 pupils and parents can be arranged on the night. Prizes and spot-prizes!
Gorey St. Patrick’s Day parade: Parent group working on our parade entry every morning: drop in… help needed. Theme = outer space.
Keep thinking about (optional) costumes or crafts you and/or your child could wear on the day: black clothes with tinfoil stars attached, homemade alien masks or head gear, costumes that your child may already have (Buzz Lightyear, etc.) Families could also bring their own bubbles or bubble machines.
All are welcome on the day itself: 2.45pm, Thursday March 17th. We hope to be one of the biggest, loudest and most colourful parade groups again this year. Further details to follow.
Parking on school grounds: don’t block other cars. (The ‘set-down’ areas are for drop-off and pick-up only: stay with your vehicle. Thanks.)
