Our 6 Sixth Class pupils turn the sod on the site of the school extension. The builders are now on site!
Dear Parents and Guardians, Our school’s Board of Management has secured another multi-million euro investment by the Department of Education & Science in school facilities for your child. Construction of the second (final) phase of building works at Gorey Educate Together will begin later this week. Eight additional classrooms will be provided, along with enhanced facilities for children with special educational needs, a library, a 200m2 PE hall, an additional play area and other supplementary accommodation. (The plans are on display in the school. They are also available on-line at wexford.ie.) Two of the classrooms will be made ready for occupancy at the end of August. A handover of the other facilities is scheduled for late October 2009. The main contractor is Sammon Group (Kildare.) A Precast Concrete form of construction will be used. The Board of Management has entered into an agreement with the Department of Education to share use of the new PE hall with Gaelscoil Mhoshíológ, our next-door neighbours. Please note that the school will remain open throughout the construction period. Consequently, disruption should be expected: traffic restrictions, noise and temporary loss of some play areas. All patience and understanding will be appreciated. The children will be able to monitor progress on the new facilities from our upstairs windows – and we can all look forward to a day in the autumn when the facilities they so richly deserve will be put into full use.
