A pupil (in 3rd class,) Edel (staff) and Siobhán (Chairperson, Parent-Teacher Association) cut a ribbon to mark the opening of our new Multi-Sensory Room.
Last Friday morning we assembled to mark the opening of the newest resource for the children of our school — a ‘Multi-Sensory Room.’
Features include: a ‘touchy-feely’ wall, tactile bean bags & blanket, atmospheric lighting & sounds, and aromatherapy materials.
The new facility is a stimulating, yet calming space — a place that can help in looking after the minds of all of our pupils: a place to sit back and do imagining or meditation or dreaming!
The multi-sensory room is also a space where our pupils with special needs can explore and develop their senses and skills, (and a place where our pupils with more complex special needs can be moved to become more interested in their environment.)
Our Multi-Sensory Room is the result of many hours of work by staff and older pupils (painting, etc.,) along with the fundraising efforts of mothers who participated in the 2012 Dublin Mini-Marathon and children at Eleanor’s Pre-School in Ferns (who participated in a pyjama party!) Thank you All!
Available parents and guardians are invited to visit the new facility this Friday, 21st September 9.20am-9.40am (after the PTA coffee morning.) PS, Parent-Teacher Association coffee mornings are held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. All are welcome.
